What is BELAPS?

The Belize Electronic Licenses and Permits System (BELAPS) is a user-friendly interface electronic single window platform designed to facilitate business and trade. Companies or individuals who wish to import and or export goods, can apply for permits or licenses or conduct other business-related activities online.

Licenses or permits will be routed to various government agencies (BAHA, Forest Department, Fisheries Department, and the Supplies Control Unit) for processing and subsequent approvals within a set period. Applicants will have the benefit of tracking the status of their application online in a secure environment.

The ease and speed to transact on BELAPS eliminates the need for the handling of paper-based licenses and permits, reduces the need for physical interaction and improves on the turnaround time so that there will no longer be a need for multiple forms and repeated trips to the various agencies.

The participating agencies are fully committed to implementing measures designed to facilitate trade while maintaining the integrity of their respective systems and processes. This electronic platform is a major step in Belize’s efforts to reduce the cost of doing business and the ease of doing business. These two factors are recognized as essential to enhancing efficiency and productivity in the trading environment.
The agencies are committed to continue its engagement with key stakeholders in order identify innovative ways on enhancing Belize’s competitiveness. Since BELAPS is a modular platform, the potential for future expansion and further consolidation of processes across agencies is possible. Therefore, stakeholders can look forward to continued development and improvement of the system.
